Research Experience

Ph.D. Research, February 2015 - Present

With a focus on maize-based production systems in Tanzania, my three-essay dissertation analyzes: i) the effects of the National Agricultural Input Voucher Scheme (NAIVS) on sustainable intensification (SI) of maize production; ii) the impacts of SI of maize production on productivity and income; and iii) the effects of SI of maize production on the nutritional outcomes of children under age five. Data from the Tanzania National Panel Survey (TNPS) are used for the empirical analyses.

 

Graduate Research Assistant, February 2015 – August 2017 & September 2018 – Present

Assistant to Dr. Nicole Mason for the Sustainable Intensification Innovation Lab (SIIL) Tanzania project. Position responsibilities include statistical and policy analyses, and economic and nutritional impact evaluations.

Research trip: Tanzania (Arusha, Babati, and Mbeya), Jun. 4 – 18, 2016

 

Master Thesis Research, August 2011 – May 2015

Analyzed the degree of market power in the Korean dairy industry using the new empirical industrial organization approach. Used an autoregressive distributed lag model to empirically measure the degree of oligopoly power of domestic white fluid milk processors.
